KML Spherical Plain Bearing lubrication:
ES style – This ES style features lubricating holes and grooves in the outer ring for easy lubrication through the housing. The Spherical Plain Bearing is mounted in a boss at articulating joints in the equipment. There is generally grease fitting mounted in the boss adjacent to the joint. The fitting is sometimes hidden by the application or positioned in an area that limits the potential to be sheared off during operation of the equipment. The ES style should be greased immediately after installation until grease is viewed exiting between the ball and outer ring and periodically after that based on the equipment use.
ES-2RS style – Similar to the ES style, but with the addition of reinforced molded rubber lip seals. The seals are retained in the outer ring and withstand high grease pressures during lubrication cycles. The lip seals insure full distribution of the grease to all the bearing surfaces and also prevent external contamination from entering. The grease fitting allows new lubricant to be introduced into the critical sliding surface areas of the joint. The new grease charge effectively purges the used grease past the seals creating a clean, new work environment in the articulating joint. The ES-2RS style should be greased immediately after installation until grease begins to purge from the seal area adjacent to the ball and periodically afterwards based on the operating conditions of the equipment.
Recommended Lubricants:
- Mobilux EP 2 – Heavily loaded plain and roller bearings
- Mobilux EP 3 – Heavily loaded plain and roller bearings – stiffer consistency.
- Mobitemp 78 – High temperature, low speed plain bearings
