Standard Grease Types
KML Spherical Plain Bearings are protected with a Molybdenum Disulphide protectant that is applied before packaging. This corrosion inhibitor is not meant to be the initial lubricant for the bearing. Bearings should be installed immediately after removal from the packaging.
KML Spherical Plain Bearings should be greased immediately upon installation with an NLGI#2 EP (extreme pressure) grease.
KML Spherical Plain Bearing types:
ES style – The outer ring is usually fractured axially in one place, parallel to its axis, to permit assembly. This style features lubricating holes in and grooves in the outer ring for easy lubrication through the housing. This style should be greased immediately after installation until grease is viewed exiting between the ball and outer ring.
ES-2RS style – Similar to the ES style, but with the addition of reinforced molded rubber lip seals. The seals are retained in the outer ring and withstand high grease pressures during lubrication cycles. The lip seals insure full distribution of the grease to all the bearing surfaces and also prevent external contamination from entering. This style should be greased immediately after installation until grease begins to purge from the seal area adjacent to the ball.
Recommended Lubricants:
- Mobilux EP 2 – Heavily loaded plain and roller bearings
- Mobilux EP 3 – Heavily loaded plain and roller bearings – stiffer consistency.
- Mobitemp 78 – High temperature, low speed plain bearings
